Terms of service
These terms form the contract between you and Recentre ("we", "us") when you book a repair. Please read them before you pay. By paying, you confirm you have read and accept them. The version in force on the day you book applies to your repair. Last updated 19 October 2026.
1. Who we are
Recentre, Recentre Repairs, REPLACE: Unit / street, REPLACE: Town, REPLACE, United Kingdom. Email hello@recentre.co.uk. Only post your controller to us after booking, using the address and booking reference we send you.
2. Who can book and what we repair
- You must be 18 or over, live in the UK and own the controller, or have the owner's permission to have it repaired.
- We only repair these models: PS5 DualSense, PS5 DualSense Edge, PS4 DualShock 4, Xbox Series X|S Controller.
- We only work on genuine Sony and Microsoft controllers. We won't work on counterfeit, third-party or heavily modified controllers.
- We may refuse a booking, or decline a controller on arrival if it isn't eligible or can't be repaired safely. If we decline it, we'll tell you why and refund you as set out in section 8.
3. What the price covers
For £35 per controller we replace both thumbsticks with TMR stick modules, clean and calibrate the controller, test it before and after, and send it back by Royal Mail Tracked 48 to a UK address. The price covers that work only. It doesn't cover any other fault, part or cosmetic issue, and we won't do any other work unless you agree to it in writing first.
We fit compatible stick modules of our choice. They fit the original shell and feel very close to the original sticks, but they aren't identical to the manufacturer's part. We may reuse or replace your original stick caps.
4. Booking and payment
- You pay in full when you book, securely through Stripe. The contract starts when we confirm your booking by email.
- Each booking covers one controller of the model you chose. Send one controller per booking.
- If we've shown a price that's obviously wrong, we'll contact you before doing any work. You can then pay the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
- Please raise any payment problem with us first so we can fix it quickly.
5. Sending your controller to us
- Post your controller within 14 days of booking. If it hasn't arrived within 30 days, we may cancel the booking. We'll treat that as a cancellation by you and refund you as set out in section 8.
- Pack it as described in our packing guide and include your booking reference. Use a tracked service, and buy cover for its value. The controller is your responsibility until it arrives with us, and we aren't liable for parcels lost or damaged in transit to us.
- Send the controller only. Remove batteries, cables, charging docks, cases and any memory or headset accessories. We aren't responsible for extra items sent with a controller unless we cause loss or damage through our own negligence. We'll return any extra items with your controller.
- If the model you send doesn't match your booking, we'll contact you. If we repair that model, we'll switch your booking to it. Otherwise we'll return the controller unrepaired and the £15 inspection and return charge in section 8 applies.
6. Inspection, repairs and further faults
- We inspect and test every controller on arrival and record its condition, including photos. We aren't responsible for faults, wear or cosmetic damage that were there before it reached us.
- Opening a controller can reveal damage you can't see from outside, such as corrosion, liquid damage or a cracked board. If we find damage beyond the sticks, we'll stop and contact you before doing anything else.
- Controllers that are worn, damaged or previously repaired can develop other faults during a repair that aren't caused by our negligence. In that case, we'll tell you and return the controller, and we aren't liable for that fault.
- If we can't complete the stick repair because of damage, wear or modifications that were there before it reached us, we'll return your controller unrepaired and the £15 inspection and return charge in section 8 applies. If we need a decision from you and you don't reply within 14 days, we'll return the controller unrepaired on the same basis.
- We aim to complete repairs within 2 working days of arrival. This is a target, not a guarantee. Delays outside our reasonable control, such as postal disruption or parts shortages, don't give a right to compensation or a refund. If we expect a significant delay, we'll tell you.
- Custom shells, paddles, triggers or other modifications are fitted at your own risk. We may need to remove them to complete the repair, and we aren't responsible for third-party parts.
7. Return delivery
- We return your controller to the address you gave when booking. Check it carefully, as we can't change it once the controller has been posted. Your controller is our responsibility from the moment it arrives with us until it's delivered to that address.
- If the parcel comes back to us because the address was wrong or the parcel wasn't collected or was refused, you'll need to pay for it to be sent again.
- If we can't return your controller and you don't respond to our emails, we'll keep it safe for 90 days. After that, we'll send you a final written notice. If you still don't collect it or arrange delivery, we may sell or dispose of it as allowed by the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977. If we sell it, we'll send you any money from the sale, less our reasonable costs.
8. Cancellations and refunds
We only give refunds in the situations below, or where the law requires it.
Cancelling within 14 days (your legal right)
- You can cancel within 14 days of the contract starting by emailing us. If your controller hasn't reached us yet, you'll get a full refund.
- By booking, you ask us to start work within that 14-day period. If you cancel after your controller has arrived, we'll deduct an amount in proportion to the work already done, including return postage.
- Once the repair is complete, you no longer have the right to cancel and there's no refund.
Cancelling after 14 days
- You no longer have a legal right to cancel. If your controller hasn't reached us, we'll refund the price minus the card processing fee we've paid, which we can't get back.
- If your controller has reached us but we haven't started work, we'll return it and refund £20. We keep the £15 inspection and return charge.
- Once we've started work, there's no refund.
Controllers we can't repair or decline
- If we can't repair your controller, or decline it, for a reason that isn't our fault, we'll return it and refund £20. This covers existing damage or wear, previous repairs or modifications, a wrong or ineligible model, or no reply from you within 14 days. We keep £15 to cover inspection and tracked return postage.
- If we can't complete the repair for a reason that's down to us, you'll get a full refund.
When we don't give refunds
- Once a repair has been completed with reasonable care and skill as described on this site.
- For a change of mind, or a personal preference about how the new sticks feel, once the repair is complete.
- For faults in parts we didn't work on, or problems that started after the controller left us and aren't covered by our warranty.
- For delays outside our reasonable control, including postage times.
How refunds are paid
We pay refunds to your original payment method within 14 days of confirming the refund. We don't give refunds as cash or to a different card.
9. Warranty and your legal rights
Our work carries a 6-month warranty from the date we post your controller back, as described on our warranty page. The warranty ends if the controller is opened, repaired or modified by anyone other than us after our repair, and it doesn't cover accidental damage, liquid damage, misuse or normal wear.
Warranty claims are put right by repair, not refund. The law also requires us to carry out the repair with reasonable care and skill. If we don't, we'll redo the work free of charge. Only if we can't put it right within a reasonable time, or without significant inconvenience to you, may you be entitled to some or all of your money back. Our warranty is in addition to these rights and doesn't reduce them.
Opening your controller will usually end any remaining manufacturer warranty. If your controller is still under the manufacturer's warranty, claim that first. By booking, you accept that the manufacturer's cover will end.
10. Our liability to you
- If we damage your controller through our negligence, we'll repair it or, if that isn't possible, pay you the cost of an equivalent controller of the same model and similar condition. This is the most we'll pay for loss of or damage to the controller, together with a refund of your repair fee where appropriate.
- We aren't responsible for loss that wasn't foreseeable when you booked, or for business losses. We also aren't responsible for loss of enjoyment, missed games, tournaments or events, lost rankings or in-game progress, or the cost of a temporary replacement controller.
- Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or for fraud. Nor does it limit or exclude anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit or exclude, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
11. Events outside our control
We aren't responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as postal strikes, severe weather, illness or supplier failures. We'll tell you as soon as we can. If the event stops us working on your controller for more than 30 days, either of us can cancel, and we'll return your controller and refund the price minus any work already done.
12. Complaints
If something isn't right, email hello@recentre.co.uk with your booking reference. We aim to reply within 5 working days and to resolve complaints within 14 days. Please give us the chance to put things right before going to your card issuer or taking any other action.
13. General
- We handle your personal data as set out in our privacy policy.
- We may update these terms. The version in force when you booked applies to your repair.
- If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- The contract is between you and us. No one else can enforce it.
- The law of England and Wales applies. You can bring legal proceedings in the courts of England and Wales, or of Scotland or Northern Ireland if you live there.
